Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I have to make sure that i follow the policies and procedures in place within the nursery as well as making sure that I support the individual needs of the children in the setting. I have to make sure that i carry out all of the physical care needs to all of the children.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy working with the children and the other staff members. The staff members at my nursery setting are very helpful and they are willing to advise me on what the best thing to do is. It meets my expectations fully as I feel so valued and respected by the staff members as well as all of the parents.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
My confidence as developed has improved massively as I have been talking to parents as well as talking to other staff members about the children in the nursery. I have already learnt a lot from doing this experience as I have had to make sure that I know how the nursery works and what their routines are. I have always wanted to work in a childcare setting.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I am very pleased with the structure of my programme as my assessor is always willing to help me with my work. My assessor makes sure that I am okay with the work set and if i am not then she will take the time to go through it more with me.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my managers as they will always ask how im getting on with the coursework and work. I also get a lot of support from my mentor who is based in my room, she is always willing to help in whatever way that she can.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I am getting a lot of support from my assessor as she always makes sure that i understand the work that has been set, if i say that i am unsure with the work then she will help me by talking through the work. I am really pleased with the amount of support that i am recieving from my assessor.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that the things i am learning in the apprenticeship is helping me on the day-to-day basis. For example, we have just done webinar 4 and 5 and they are about theories and theorists and that you don't realise that we actually do it all the time without actually realising.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
When I am not working I try to relax and catch up on any work for my apprenticeship that needs doing. I have also been volunteering at the local library to give back to the community. I sometimes catch up with my friends but have unable to do this at the moment due to Covid.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Realise to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because the assessors and tutors and very knowledgeable and they are also very helpful. They will always make you think and work hard but they all want the best for you and your future. They will always make sure that they give enough handouts and powerpoints of the webinars to make sure that you can go back over them if needed.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Realise?
I probably would have been liked to have been told about what the apprenticeship is going to entail. For example, when certain things are going to happen so we don't have to wait for a date for a webinar to come through on email. As I have had a problem where ive had a webinar but i got told on a friday and the webinar was on the monday. It gives my managers not very long to sort cover for the room.
