Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role as a Data analyst is to use large data sets and provide insight and recommendations for the company based on this data. My day to day role consists of downloading, cleansing, aggregating and visualising data. It also consists of creating /maintaining reports for other departments.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am currently enjoying my programme and it has made me enjoy coming into work. I have had my first full week of training with QA which was very insightful. I am enjoying being thrown into the deep end of work and having to adapt and learn quickly. I am excited to continue learning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a wealth of new skills within the last 3 months. I have learnt how to visualise data on a number of systems, I have developed quickly a understanding of excel and how to use advanced formulas. I have learnt some visual basic coding and developed my relationship skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is well structured and I know when my training weeks are, Bud is a platform used by my digital learning coach which sets out deadlines and tasks. I am required to take time off for my course during work who have been flexible to my needs and workload
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer has been incredibly supportive, I was quite nervous about starting a new job during a pandemic, working from home and not have the support you would traditionally find in the office however I have found my manager/employer to be very accommodating, patient and thorough when showing me how to complete tasks.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider is on hand from 9-5 either directly through my digital learning consultant or via the chat service on Bud. I have found them to be very helpful, quick at responding and when I have had any issues or concerns my learning consultant has called me and clarified where needed
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I have seen an overview of the number of courses to come and I feel that the content matches my role very well. It covers what a lot of my day to day tasks will become, it covers data warehousing which is soon to be a big part of my role. Learning these with a tutor is invaluable experience.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
During the induction week my employer brought it a number of colleagues and staff throughout the bank who ran through the vast network of events, social activities and groups that we can become a part of. We have employee lead networks and a dedicated apprenticeship council composed of apprentices that have completed their course or are currently on their course. As well as ally groups around education/diversity and inclusion.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend NatWest purely on the staff within the bank, having worked in customer service and now as an apprentice I have experienced a vast number of the banks colleagues all of which are supportive, friendly and trustworthy. Once you become aware of the vast resource available to you as a NatWest employee you can find a career progression path, employee lead networks and this has provided me with good vision and drive.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
I would advise anyone applying to NatWest to fully understand the role they are applying for, to review NatWest's website to see all that the bank does. When applying understand that you will have transferable skills from life or other jobs that you can bring. I would also advise being friendly and approachable as you will most likely be in contact with different departments and a wide range of employees.
