Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am responsible for several clients (both facultative and treaty) My role is a big part of the broking process (getting your client the best cover and negotiating with reinsurers) and preparing the legal documents behind this, both for the client and the reinsurer.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my role and the people I work with. As well as this the program offers lots of help and support with the qualifications. There is a lot of opportunity at Aon both in my role and other activities.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I am currently completing my CII, this is a professional qualification you gain from the apprenticeship. From this my skills and knowledge surrounding the insurance market developed. My role involves a fair about of math, for example calculating the estimated premium - therefore my math skills have improved.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The organization and structure of this apprenticeship is good, issues are resolved fast it is it structure in a way to ensure you are able to complete your exams by the end of the apprenticeship without interfering with your work. The meetings with your coach and revision sessions are consistent.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My team are very supportive and I work closely with my manager and buddy who are always happy to answer my many questions and involve me in their work so I can gain more experience. My manager and team also support me through my qualifications.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have monthly meetings with my training provider where we discuss my progress and the steps I need to take going forward. My training provider also arranges lots of revision sessions to help me complete my qualifications.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualifications teach me about the whole insurance market, the bigger picture. This is very useful as I came into the role straight from A-Levels where I was not exposed to the insurance market - so this is all new to me.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Aon offers a lot of social activities. For example, under 35's reinsurance events which I often attend, these include events like parties, talks and lunches. There are a lot of talks held at Lloyds of London which anyone can attend. These are great for networking.

Why?
There are so many opportunities at Aon both within the job and other activities. Being one of the biggest broking firms you can get such good experience within a company known globally with a good reputation. Aon offer a lot of support around employee well being.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
Be yourself, as there is no point pretending to be someone else and then the job not being right for you. Be enthusiastic and learn as much about Aon as you can. Also rehearse some interview questions so you know what to say.
