Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My Job Role is an Fabricator / Welder. My day to day routine would be working with sheet metals , forming , cutting and fitting sheet metal components. I also weld many industrial jobs however I cannot complete real jobs as I am not qualified. So I practise a lot of different materials and thicknesses.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme a lot. I am a very hands on person so I like being involved and getting stuck in. Being a fabricator/welder it allows me to be hands on with materials and be creative with how I produce the jobs that my manager wants me to do.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many new skills. for example using all the equipment and tooling for the welder I had no experience what so ever before I began my apprenticeship. But now I know how to use all the equipment to a good standard. I have also learnt a lot of social skills and teamwork skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
My programme is structured to a decent standard. at the start there was a lot of confusion with who's doing what. however as the years have gone by the organisation and structure of my apprenticeship has improved greatly. hopefully It can stay how it is and keep moving to my completion goal.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The employer supports me in a massive way. they provide me with all the tools I need to be able to work in the engineering environment. furthermore they support me with any problems that I have had and they are always there for us when we need any help at all.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Weston College have been decent with giving us support. The first year was a little shakey as there was not a lot of structure with the programmes and finding out what classes you have or not. however throughout the years they have got a lot better and now fully support us in our apprenticeships.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
My qualification defiantly helps me perform better in my role. The qualification courses are very related to my job role and they give me all the knowledge and practise I need to be able to become a competent worker. However some courses have been irrelevant and not needed for my apprenticeship
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are many extra-curricular activities that we can get involved in at work. These are all great team builder activities and very fun. They also allow you to meet new people throughout the business which is good as it means you are growing more relationships through the business at these activities.
