Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Within the apprenticeship you undertake a number of rotations lasting from 6-12 months in different areas of the bank. I currently working in Trade and Supplier finance assisting the director with clients trade needs such as trade loans,guarantees and letters of credit.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have really enjoyed the programme as you get to experience a range of areas so you can see where you like to work and where you don’t like as much and decide what career path you would like to take.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Variety of skills as have undertaken rotations in both risk and front office functions

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well organised. You undertake rotations in different areas for a length of 6-12 months. You get to prioritise what areas you would like to go into and the Emerging Talent team are extremely helpful with this.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Lots of support. When undertaking my exams and apprenticeship work we were allowed a day off each week to study and were very supportive.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Good level of support. We had weekly webinars to go through the content and lots of training materials.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think it helps quite a bit as the modules we went through were relevant to banking.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are some network events. There is a football tournament each year with the chance to win tickets to the Champions League final.
