Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I worked as part of a small team on the overnight shift.
It was our responsibility to maintain service throughout the night ensuring that production ran efficiently. serving customers while operating to a safe a hygienic standard. Rotating production stations to allow for deep cleaning and setting up for the breakfast set up the following morning.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I really enjoyed having the opportunity to be able to complete the apprenticeship.
I did however find it difficult to get any assistance from my management simply just because it was such a small team there really wasn’t any free time. There wasn’t anyone there on the overnight shift to assist me in my learning. All my learning was done in my free time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
During my time with the company i feel that I gained better team work skills. Overnight shift could become very busy and with such a small team it was important to be able to work together as a crew. Very often each crew member having to run multiple stations each to enable us to meet customers expectations and delivery great service.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
I found the lifetime program well structured. I did have issues at first due to my trainer becoming unwell but I was reassigned a new trainer as soon as it was possible. And found that due to my working hours not the program that it did take me longer to complete. There are no learning development trainers working nights so the program is maybe not always suited to overnight workers.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
The support I received was minimum almost non existent. My Manager did try when it was requested by my lifetime trainer and completed what was asked.
However I found this was due to my working hours. There just was no extra time for learning on the overnight shift with such a small team it wasn’t possible.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider supported me throughout my training. If it hadn’t been for Valeeka’s support I may not of been able to complete it.
As I worked night shift and wasn’t able to look for support for my learning from the McDonalds staff I done almost all of my work at home. Which proved to be harder for me to do being tiered and having a family.
Thankfully my trainer was supportive and patient with me
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
Unfortunately I had to resign from my position in McDonalds.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Other than works nights out none that I was made aware of

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Overall I enjoyed my experience working in the company I was Sad to leave. Working overnights and being a mum had became impossible for me to maintain. The company wasn’t able to swap me over to day shift or allow me to have alternated weekend off to be able to spend quality time with my children.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
Be prepared to work hard this is a busy company and it is very fast paced.
