Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is crucial to Santander, I protect all stakeholders of the bank through complying with Anti-Financial Crime policies and procedures. This way we can efficiently deter, detect and disrupt any financial crime that may be attempting to pass through the financial system. It’s a very interesting career path
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have enjoyed my time here so far, all the staff here are lovely, the tasks are okay, they are challenging but can become tedious at times. But the support you get on a day to day basis is unreal, and anything you are unhappy with will be sorted ASAP.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Many New skills including: communication skills, problem solving, resilience, confidence, team work and more. At Santander, we are always pushed and encouraged to stay out of the comfort zone and to continually stay in the stretch zone where we are always developing our knowledge, skills and expertise to become professional

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
I’d say the programme isn’t very organised. When it comes to the training side with BPP, often their assignments aren’t thought out properly and so raises issues with confidentiality and also every assignment seems to be the same as the previous ones. Loved Santander, not much BPP
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lots and Lots. Haven’t gone a single day without receiving some form of support. we are all encouraged to speak up and share our views and opinions. Based on this we then have a decision of how we can improve our stay here or make our workload more manageable.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
We receive support but the advice given from our training provider is brief and unclear. The support often contradicts itself and leaves most of us apprentices in confusion. We do have regular meetings, in which I don’t find particularly useful, as the support given is quite unhelpful and contradictory
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I don’t feel that the training provider has bettered me in my role at all. We are always set huge amount of tasks in which we are expected to do during work hours , but don’t have the time. I think more resources would be better and less assignments
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes many, anything you can think of Santander has an extra curricular activity club where anyone can get involved. This involves FIFA tournaments, some football teams, events formed by the Graduate and Apprentice Network, Dementia friends and more. So many opportunities and it’s a pleasure to be part of

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Santander to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Such a friendly environment to work in. Everyone goes the extra mile for each other. Everyone is treated equally and there are so many opportunities for you to go in to. It’s a people’s bank and it really does look after their colleagues and customers. Its a pleasure
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Santander?
I would be yourself. So many people get caught up in the idea of being someone they’re not, but here at Santander no one puts on a front. We are all here to work and to make work fun. It’s is a great environment with many exciting opportunities
