Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
As an auditor at pwc I end up spending a lot of my time working with clients to provide a high level of assurance over the quality of their financial statements every year. This involves looking at original evidence and assessing if the evidence is clear and correct. It is very enjoyable.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I genuinely do find that the overall quality and enjoyment factor of my specific programme is fairly high.
Whilst on day to day projects and engagements my firm have a very good level of flexibility to allow me to do what I enjoy and mould my career for the better.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a lot of new skills such as: team management, organisation, excel, leadership, working alongside a diverse group of people, being inquisitive.
I have also learnt some skills such as being professionally skeptical in every single thing that I do and also ensuring that I can challenge the client

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My specific firm structure my apprenticeship programme very well. They take control of the timescale meaning that I can be sure of the overall progression and meeting of the targets required. This means that I can focus on personal development, leaving my firm to work on the intricacies of the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Price Waterhouse Coopers LLP provide a whole lot of support for me whilst on my training programme and apprenticeship. This means that I always feel comfortable and able to develop, leaving it so that I don't need to stress about the small things. This is really appreciated and makes my life easier.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Kaplan financials who are based in Reading (UK) specifically for me are really quite good, I find that they work to help the average person pass, without providing much specifics to us personally. This means feedback is sometimes vague and not always actionable. But that said, the workbooks are good.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification that I do currently is the ACA which is hosted by the ICAEW. It basically means that in a years time I will be called a chartered accountant, this is therefore very useful for my jobs as it means that everything I do is specific to my day to day jobs.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
At Price waterhouse Coopers LLP we have lots of social activities, especially in the Reading office. These include stuff like sports (which include tennis and football and running and golf) but it also includes non sporting activities like drink and pizza socials and other things such as weekly catchups which are nice to see.

Recommendations & Advice

Yes
Why?
Price waterhouse coopers LLP is a really great firm to work for, there is so many different opportunities available and also there is a great name to put on your CV. Furthermore they allow for us to develop and become professionals which is really useful and valuable in this current climate.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
When applying for PwC I would advise being quite hard working, it is a tough place to work for, it is not easy, be inquisitive and interested, take an interest in what we do and what makes us the very best in the business, and consider the impacts of the future of our sector.
