Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Learning how to update and make changes to important documents needed for our customers when they are getting a mortgage from us. Obtain information from existing data bases using sql
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy it very much and know that I have people I can turn to if i need help. I think this would be easier if we were in the office to get to know the others in the team but due to covid this isnt possible at the moment.
There is lots of guidance on how to complete 121's, cpcs and that sort of thing and emails to let you know of up and coming events for apprentices.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt how to access new systems and learned the basics of sql and how to apply this to everyday tasks required. I have learned how to take a a ticket from start to finish and how to test to ensure its been done correctly by doing Unit Testing. I have attended training courses at QA on .Net fundamentals and sql and databases. Ihave attended weekly learnings with the other apprentices taken by our principal engineer teaching us Unix and giving examples on when and how it is used.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The induction was spot on, very structured and organised well.
The QA training was was a bit stressful at the start, as it was virtual I had to try and figure how to use the new systems required for the virtual learning and then try and follow the coursework.
I have great support from my TM who i can turn to if i have any questions or the team I am in at the moment, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] if very approachable and happy to explain things as many times as needed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My manager is very supportive and I know he is there if I need him.
I find that any person who I approach for help or advice is willing to take the time when they can.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The Tutor is very quick to respond when I approach for help or advice on the work I am trying to complete. She is very patient and its obvious she wants me to do well by how much she is willing to help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
So far the training I have had relates well to the systems and work I complete on a day to day basis. I have used some of the SQL and database learning in work and it helped me understand aspects that had previously confused me.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is a hackathon which I have signed up for and also coffee morning to meet other apprentices, although they are virtual its good to take part.
I have signed up for the virgin plus which is a challenge which you do within a team of colleagues.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Its clear that NatWest wants its apprentices and Grad to do well. Even the chief executive came on and did a coffee morning and chatted about her experiences and how she wants everyone in the bank to be themselves, continue to learn and do the best they can. It is a nice environment be in.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
NatWest is a friendly and open place to work. You will learn everything from the bottom up so don't be afraid to apply, you'll learn as you go.
