Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I answer client questions about tax, draft emails, reports, memos, join meetings.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Very much. I am learning all the time

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Plenty - tax technical knowledge, client/project management, communication, confidence, accounting, risk management, finance management, business strategy

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well, organised college and study time as well as internal formal training. I have access to leadership as well every month if not more
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A lot, although it is tough to work full time (normally I do 1-2 hours over time every day which adds up when you are expected to study after work).
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Yes a lot. The 24 hour helpline is very helpful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
To a certain extent. I work in tax so the tax exams help a lot more than the management/auditing stuff but I still like to know these things as it gives me an idea of the sector I work in and the qualification I will get will open lots of doors.
However I don't appreciate that we have to do things like English and Maths when I have an a level in these subjects and a degree. It seems a bit pointless and just wastes my time.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes a lot. I do a lot of volunteering helping social mobility and disadvantaged young people get into graduate schemes/apprenticeships like mine which is very rewarding. There is something for everyone - lots of religious networking groups, sports groups, interest groups (e.g. climate/sustainability).

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Looks great on your resume, get a great qualification out of it, lots of opportunities to prove yourself and develop new skills. it's hard work but it will be worth it in the end.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Practice for the tests they make you do and make sure that you practice before the test centre day - don't sit there quietly but don't talk over other people easy. They just want to see that you are a normal person who can work in a team but is still confident.
