Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am an apprentice cost consultant. My role is to work on behalf of a client (e.g. a council) as a quantity surveyor, pricing projects, assessing their feasibility with the budget, finding savings and determining whether the project is value for money.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love it! I have really started to enjoy learning; I've realised how amazing it is to be surrounded by people that know so much more than you. Listening to everyone as if they're telling me something no one else knows has worked well for my learning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Everything that I have learnt with MACE has been a new skill. They offer an extensive training program that is engaging and useful. Furthermore, many colleges will run sessions for topics that they are experts on.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well structured. We have training sessions on a fortnightly basis, the people around me are keen for me to continue learning and there is a variety of optional learning available, through webinars and meetings.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I never feel that I am on my own. THere is always someone that is able to help if I'm stuck or need to discuss something.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
There are a number of people that I have been put in contact with, that are able to assist me with my qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Currently it is helping me massively with my construction technology knowledge; gaining a fundamental understanding of the construction process and the amount of work that goes behind it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I attend a networking group called Women at Mace, a debating club, there are lunch and learn presentations as well as other networking sessions.
