Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a in trade duty manager this means I can run the whole store whilst it is open for business. This may include staffing, cash office duties, inventory checks, and dealing with day to day issues the business may have. Including customer enquiries and complaints. I have been in this role now for 3 years.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
At times I find the programme to be repetitive. I have been told I find this because I have been a duty manager for so long know it is like second nature to me. I do all the things without realising. This has been a bit of a eye opener.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes I have learned more about my existing role but in more details. It has given me more confidence to do my role better and given me more understanding of what is expected of me and what my customers expect too. Overall it had helped me grow as a manager and individual.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I have certain targets that I know I have to meet by a certain date and time each month. My mentor has said that I can take breaks between modules if needed, which has been helpful. The questions and some of the tasks I find are a bit outdated and could do with a refresh.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
To be honest I do the apprenticeship on my own. My manager doesn't really have anything to do with it apart from signing my sheet at the end of the month. Yes I find this frustrating but she doesn't know the answers when I have asked her in the past.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I couldn't praise my apprenticeship leader highly enough. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] has been amazing I feel very comfortable with her. She has always said she is there for us whenever we need her. We can talk about anything which I think has been the drive in me staying on the apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It has given me more confidence in my role and I feel that I can now provide a better service. I needed to believe in myself more and what I'm capable of and this has done that for me. It is a great stepping stone for anyone wanting to progress.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
In iceland there isn't any extra curricular activities. There is the Talking shop rep role that you can apply for within your store. this involves organising any charity events, staff gatherings and any information that needs to be passed on within the company like when there are incentives on

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Iceland Frozen Foods to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Iceland is a family friendly shop. They have platforms that are labelled out so that you can progress easily and quickly within the company. The skills I have learnt there I will use for any other job I may go into the future. I have been at Iceland for 7 years now.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland Frozen Foods?
Iceland wants all its employees to be flexible. Driven and want the company to be their priority if you are driven And are willing to work hard then Iceland would be great for you. We have alot of students appt to work in iceland as they will work around timetables.
