Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Within core banking I'm in a platform called Enterprise service platform(ESP)- ESP provides services to internal consumers. Within the platform I am in the production support department. Within this role I look over incidents which are issues that consumers are seeing with their service that ESP provided to them and by working with different applications and resources I must find the cause of the issues and resolve it.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I think the help and support I receive is incredible! not only in my team but also with my training provider, I always have any questions answered that I need or if I need something explained. I have felt welcome in the team from the beginning and my team is always there to support my learning and experience

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned lots of new skills- I now know how to use Zoom and set up meetings/join them, I also know how to use Outlook and send Zoom meeting invites to colleagues/ accept meetings. I have had the opportunity to learn the language python which will be useful for my role. Overall through my experience I have developed my confidence by setting up meetings and connecting with colleagues from all different roles.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is structured very well, for the first week there was a full induction which went over lots of things but also let us connect with the other apprentices. I have regular meetings with my assessor to have a catch-up on how I'm getting on and if I need any support. I know what modules I need to complete and by when and by using the QA canvas website it is simple to send them straight off to my assessor. I also know in advance when my classroom training is so I can prepare and set time out in my calendar.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I always receive full support from my manager and team, especially if I need some time to fully focus on my apprenticeship work. Any queries I have my manager is always helpful about supporting me and helping me out. If I don't have answers for the apprenticeship modules then my manager makes sure to help me out or put me in scenarios that would give me an answer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider is always happy to answer any questions I have and always gets back to my messages quickly with full helpful answers. It is easy to get in contact aswell by both email or through their QA canvas. I have regular meetings for check-ins to see how I'm getting on and any quires
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The things that I learn on the apprenticeship programme develops both my technical skills and soft skills which are specific to my role and I can use these daily. The classroom training is specific for my role which means that it's easy to apply them in my day to day role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are always different events going on at work, there are networking events on that allow you to meet with new people to talk about a range of topics. On the internal internet there is a wellbeing hub page which includes a calendar of events showing all the wellbeing specific events going on in the next couple of months. There are endless amounts of things to get involved in through NatWest and are always inclusive

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
NatWest are supportive and inclusive. You will always get the help and support you need whether that be from talking to people or using the internal intranet or even Workdays learning portal. Opportunities will always be available to you and offered and NatWest are very supportive on wellbeing. You aren't seen as a worker and more as a specific person.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
I would advise not to worry about you're background, whether it be specific to your role or completely different. I joined the bank with no technical background but was never seen any differently and was given that extra support to make sure I was never left without the support.
