Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

In my role I supply IT services and infrastructure to public sector organisations. On a day to day basis I tend to phone up schools to see if they require our services, I also spend some of the day creating and sending quotes out to my trading customer at Softcat.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love the programme, I feel like I am supported all the time and the way certain aspects are executed is brilliant. It always feels like I have something to do as there are lots of things I can do in regards to the training side of things.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills over my apprenticeship, I have improved my phone and communication skills making conversations easier and also more formative meaning I can gain a great amount of information from whoever I am speaking to.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is really well structured. Each point in the apprenticeship programme is explained clearly meaning I know what I am doing at all times. There is always people to reach out to if I need any help or support.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from Softcat direct. Whenever I need something I tend to ask my manager however, everyone seems keen to help us apprentices so it is nice to get different bits of info from different people in the company
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have also received a lot of support from the training providers during the course of my apprenticeship. We roughly have fortnightly training calls where we either gain more knowledge about IT sales or, we proceed with working on our coursework which will guide us to our overall qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that once I have achieved the qualification, I will be an established salesman as I have gained a lot of knowledge during the whole course which I am still currently using on a day to day basis. I can use my knowledge in conversations with customers or new employees
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

On a weekly basis I tend to get involved in the Softcat 5 a side football team where I play with other employees. I am also part of the apprentice recruitment channel where I work with other apprentices to improve the recruitment side of things at Softcat.

Yes
Why?
I have loved my time working here so far, I have met a lot of great people and I have also found a new passion in sales. I love my job and the culture of the company makes it even better.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Softcat?
During the interview process, I would say just be yourself. I feel as by being yourself you are portraying a real representation of yourself and then you will find that if you push yourself you will get on with most people
