Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
First year is based purely on learning basic skills and knowledge needed for my job role this includes machining, handskills and working on basic components. After the first year, you are then put into different placements within the workplace which you change every 3 months to work on different systems, vessels and learn different knowledge and skills that are reluctant to that section.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I throughly enjoy my apprenticeship program and have helped promote and encourage others to also take the leap through being part of the apprentice campaign

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
As a person I’ve developed my ability to effectively communicate with others and deal with different situations accordingly and appropriately. I’ve learnt many new skills such as how to overcome issues that may arise during carrying out mechanical work and developed previously skills and knowledge.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I think the programme is well organised and structured and whenever there has been issues in the first year based in college there was always a point of contact who dealt with the issues effectively
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer through people such as my ADM but also from experience my FLMs aswell
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I receive good support from my training provider working towards qualifications. As adults, we are expected to work more independently and be responsible for our own revision which is understandable however we do struggle to keep the same lecturer for the year in some units which can be a concern.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It backs up the skills and knowledge I have learned through a practical side into a theory side and can fill any gaps of the knowledge
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
I’m not currently aware of any extra curricular activities however at the moment I wouldn’t want to be involved as o want to concentrate on my qualifications at the moment
