Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On most days I will be working on task which are set for us to do by the end of the year, I really enjoy doing them with the others on my course u feel like it has improved alot of my skills as well d teaching me new skills.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy everything about the programme from the teachers to the tasks, especially now when I have gotten used to all the tools and equipment in the workshop.
I have also got to know new techniques with certain tools which will help me better out comes on future tasks as well as just making my tasks easier for me.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned how to use many new machines, such as vertical bandsaw, radial piller drill, hydraulic and treadle guillotine, theal cutting equipment and welding equipment to name a few.
I have improved on my communication skills as well as team work skills these skills are really important for my future job because it will help me with communication.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure of the programme is very good as it is made to take you the entire length of the first year and if you stay on top of the course work we also get you should have no problem passing the year as the teachers make it easy for you by teaching you the correct things.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

We get alot of support from out employees on a number of things ranging from support groups you can join, such as women in the work place, lgbtq+, and many others these groups are there to help you if you need it and if you cannot find the support you need from your employer you can talk to the union.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We recieve alot of support from are teachers in college and when we where at home during the lockdowns, we would have daily calls with them in the lockdown as well as being able to email them incase you do not understand something such as a question or tasks you are set.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The training we have been provided might not be all we need to know for when we start are jobs but it does give us a basic level of understanding on alot of different tools and machines, as well as are teachers giving us little tips on tasks to make it easier for us.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I am not sure as I have not asked and I do not recall being told about this but, I would be happy to find out about any of these activities as I may be interested in some of them if there are any. But ye I don't know if there are any.

Would you recommend Babcock International Group to a friend?

Yes

Why?

It is a fun and welcoming environment as well as you getting alot of support from others when in the workplace, however jt is important to ask if you are uncertain as this could lead to you not knowing certain things which could certainly in handy later on on your apprenticeship.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock International Group?

Ask alot of questions, be confident, stay on top of the Aptem work, make some friends early on.
I would also suggest getting to know some tools before you join so that you find it easier when you end up joining.
Apart from those there is nothing much you can do.
