Overview of the Experience

Please give an overview of what your virtual experience involved:
5/5
Joining and interacting with online sessions delivered by legal professionals such as: trainee solicitors, senior solicitors. future trainee solicitors and other professions within the firm. Encouraged active participation through question and answer sessions allowing students partaking in the programme to receive clear, concise and informative responses. Learned about different routes into law and the responsibilities that come with pursuing a career in law as well as specifically with Pinsent Masons.

I enjoyed it to a large extent as it was very informative and interactive and coming away from the programme I feel I have gained vital knowledge that I did not know before regarding opportunities and the journey into law. I also enjoyed how friendly and helpful the staff/professionals who delivered the programme were.
How well organised was your virtual experience?
5/5
It was very well organised with staff on hand to help at all times, just an email away. They were quick to resolve any issues especially any technical issues faced by students in order to deliver a smooth and cohesive programme. They also reassured us that they are always available to help during the programme.
How much did your virtual experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
5/5
It contributed significantly, as I gained a much more concise and specific advice on CV's, interviews, personal statements and extra curriculars that would help me in furthering my education and eventually working in the legal sector. It also opened my mind to other careers in the law firm, such as in IT as a data analyst or as a paralegal.
Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
5/5
This was an online event so there was no travel, meal, social or location costs.

Skills Development

What training and skills development did you learn from your virtual experience?
5/5
Gained confidence by sharing ideas and asking questions to professionals as well as with other students on the programme. Gained knowledge about ways to secure work experience placements as well as how to produce a highly professional and relevant CV in regards to applying for jobs in the legal sector.

Company Culture

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
5/5
I broadened my understanding on the culture and values of the firm largely. I learnt about the inclusivity of the firm for LGBT individuals as well as individuals from state-school backgrounds. I also learnt how friendly the staff at the firm are as there was a strong sense of teamwork.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
5/5
There were many opportunities with a wide range of employees at Pinsent Masons as they delivered a multitude of different workshops or seminars on different aspects of the legal field. Different perspectives from trainees, associates, previous paralegals and IT staff which allowed more communication beyond purely solicitors at the firm.
