Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Broking with reinsurers at London to cover the policy. Then following up with the policy documentation such as providing the Evidence of Cover to Clients and the internal procedures.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy working with my team and I think Aon is a great company to work for. Not only are Aon the 2nd biggest brokers in the world but Aon cares for its employees well-being.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My English has developed as you have to email clients in a certain way. My maths has also developed as you have to calculate the premium and any rates on the policy.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is organised but at the same time it is flexible. You choose when you are ready to take exams and when you want to revise and do any coursework. There are certain revision days in place and time frames for the exam.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my manager who attends all my meetings with my coach and encourages my revision for the CII exams and any other activities that will help with my career development.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Every month I have a meeting with my training provider who guides me in the coursework and exams. They are motivating and encouraging and arrange extra revision sessions if you need help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualifications definitely help with my role. They are tailored towards my job and involve areas of the industry I might not have come across in my day to day work. This gives me a more well rounded view of the industry.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are a lot of social and networking opportunities throughout the year. There’s a specific club which has under 35s to encourage the next generation. There are often talks you can attend both within Aon and for the insurance institution.

Why?
Not only are Aon the 2nd biggest brokers in the world but Aon cares for its employees well-being. Aon are supportive in achieving qualifications that they will fund which is a huge incentive. There are so many opportunities as there are lots of different kinds of business.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
Be yourself. An employer will want to know your personality to know if you’d fit into the team. If you’re not right for the job then it wasn’t for you. It’s much better to be somewhere with like minded people that you enjoy being with.
