Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a site engineer, my day to day role consists of managing sub-contractors , setting out works for self delivery and sub-contractors. Completing quality inspections with the client. Writing rams and creating work permits.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The programme is a good programme and it allows me to see a project from start to end, this allows us to see the entire life cycle of a project from preliminary works to the final handover.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Working at John Sisk and Son has helped me develop my skills working as a team and has enabled me to further develop my knowledge of engineering. Working whilst studying has enabled me to understand and visually see the university theory whilst learning it.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It has a good structure however I would like to see some more effort in rotating the apprentices around different sectors within the business. Not as much as the excelerate scheme but after finishing one job moving on to a job in a different sector of the business such as civils to building.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Employer provides all the support I require, If I need time off to study they allow that. They provide training courses to support CPD. They also have ICE mentors which allow us to do our iEng whilst studying.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
LJMU is a good training provider, could do with more support for part time students however.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It helps us put to use the theory were learning in our day to day role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are but I have never partaken as I work 4/5 days a week and the 5th day I spend at University.
