Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
3 days per week are for working on your business and CSR project which are a presentation and fundraiser respectively. You also have development sessions, buddy meetings and talks from people in the bank.
2 days per week are with your line manager in an assigned business area and you attend meetings and complete tasks set by them.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Aside from the business project, during which you can reach out to people in different areas of the bank for your research, much of your responsibility and learning is down to your line manager.
The amount of responsibility and work depends heavily on the tasks set by your manager. As the internship is short and only 2 days per week are on placement, my level of responsibility was fairly low but I still enjoyed it.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
You are really encouraged to network and build communication skills by meeting lots of other interns from different schemes and locations during breakout rooms and in team projects.
We had development sessions on lots of soft skills such as presentation skills, emotional intelligence and making an impression while working remotely.
It is clear the bank invest a lot of time developing you as a person and not just your knowledge base.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I cannot fault the level of support I received on the internship. Everyone made it really easy and clear that we could reach out to them with any further questions.
Communication from Early Careers about our schedule was excellent.
We were assigned a buddy who is on the graduate scheme which again made it easy to ask questions and feel supported.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone I met was really kind and friendly. Sometimes in companies you meet one or two people who are a bit off but I can't say I did here. My team made me feel very welcome from the start.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I had a great time on my internship. I have a really positive opinion of the bank now and the company culture. They give you plenty of opportunities to develop, meet new people and try new things.
The 8 weeks have been really well structured and the graduate scheme looks really appealing and I appreciate that we were given an interview at the end for it.

Research the CPCs, these are key behaviors they look for and you are assessed on it at interview. It is clear they are still important/ talked about once you join the bank too.
