Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Involves attending uni on day release, as well as being placed in a rotation in order to achieve the key Knowledge skills and behaviours required to pass my apprenticeship. Involves CAD, REVVIT, Risk assessments, site visits etc. As well as working in a team on a daily basis and completing company induction.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The apprenticeship is very much enjoyable with a nice blend of attending uni as well as combining this with day to day work in order to gain experience in my role. Very supportive team and various skills and tasks are used in order to keep employees engaged and interested in the work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes many new skills have been learned such as using programmes such as teams, auto cad, Revvit, etc. Also developed working in a team with people from different demographics. Plenty of opportunity for CPD with various courses always being offered and suitable time provided in order to complete these effectively.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well structed with clear knowledge skills and behaviours required to be met over the 5 years in which the company are very helpful in ensuring these are met with regular meetings to assess these and the progress being made along with quarterly reviews from the uni which is helpful.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Plenty of support is received from my employer with regular contact from line management making it effective and easy to raise any concerns I may have. People are always available and willing to help new starters with plenty of emphasis placed on safety and induction during the first 6 weeks.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Plenty of support provided from training provider, there are quarterly reviews as mentioned above and a designated apprenticeship team are available should you have any queries about the course or apprenticeship structure. Overall I would say if you need support it is definitely available to be accessed which is good.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
i feel that my qualification does help towards my role with many skills and knowledge learned applied to real life scenarios. If anything I think the work itself actually makes the course slightly easier as many topics overlap such as using Auto CAD, I would say I know more about my job role from working towards my qualification.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes plenty of activities to become involved in, this is particularly evident in the skills academy here events among apprentices are often organised. Within the company they also offer something called lunch and learn which is a great way to develop your knowledge of something in a relaxed environment which is good.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend AWE to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because it is a great opportunity to combine work and study as they provide a very supportive environment for young people to develop. There is plenty opportunity to rotate around placements and experience different aspects of your job role which definitely helps contribute to the completion of your apprenticeship efficiently.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AWE?
Would advise them to have a look at the future careers website where there is plenty of information about roles available and information available about all the apprenticeships we have to offer. I would also advise them to ask any questions they want to find out to the future careers team who's details are available on the website as things such as work experience is also available.
