Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role as assistant manager involves the day to day running of the business in the absesnce of my manager. This includes, opening and setting up the business, managing team, stock takes, deliveries, running shifts, banking, cashing up, and locking up the business. I also take care of ordering seeing in orders, risk assesments, dueldilligence, and health and safety procedures.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have enjoyed this programme as it has let me learn along aide my work role so ive been able to be hands on and not just stuck with pen and paper. I also really like the idea of the course we could go on and the webinars just unfortunate the pandemic got in the way as that is something i would have benifited from.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many new skills since starting my N.V.Q i have developed from supervisor to assistant manager. The things i have learnt include many aspects on policies and proceedures, learning styles and leadership styles i have also learned many different managemwnt techniques and how different techniques work with different members of the team and have found this very uselful, something else inhave found very uselful especially with iur re opens is the difference between couching and training our teams.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel yhe programme is very well structured and alot of effort is out in from our tutors. I feel that thia pandemic has got in the way of how well it could have been with more of the learning having to be remote as i did prefer the meetings being face to face, how ever my tutor did make the effort to make the teams neetings as relaxed as possible and helped me alot.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is a great support, my general manager supports me with my course every step and is always offering me any help that i need, and any advice she feels could help support the work i am currently working on. I am given the chance to learn new skills at every opportunity.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
My turor has been a great support towards my qualification and has been at the end of the phone if i have needed her for any questions or help with my work, it has been a struggle not being able to to face to face meetings as we have planned but adjustments were put in place so i could carry on my learning.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel my qualification has helped me grow in my work pkace as what i have been learning has been transferable in to my role. For example the training and coaching skills when we have done re opens after covid have been great putting into practice. Dealing with difficult situations has been soemthign ive had to deal with a fair few times also so working in this has helped.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
We dont have any extra ciricular activities at my work place, we all keepnin contact through watsapp and keep up to date on a social media page. We have geoup meetings regular to keep up to date with each other. We are a rather small team so
this isnt really soemthing we have looked into doing.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Marstons to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have recommended tgis company to other work friends as i feel they could also get support to achieveing a qualification like I have done. It's a great way to learn whilst working and theres no age limit aswel as still being able to earn whilst you earn to.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marstons?
I would advize those qho are applyikg to get all the information 1st so they know what the course entailes. And ensure that their employer is on board to help and support them .and them selves have the time to study along side their other commitments inside and outside of work.
