Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
very enjoyable. It is a lot to deal with at first however developing the skills in order to balance your work life and the apprenticeship is all part of the journey to success. This apprenticeship is a perfect gateway into the financial / insurance sector because of the amount of doors that it will open for you
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoyed my time as an apprentice, not only have I made some friends for life, but I have gained a very useful qualification in the field of work that I am wanting to progress. The best thing about the apprenticeship is that it doesn't feel like one as you are working the whole time

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed a number of skills during my time as an apprentice. The main skills you will learn are obviously about the basics of insurance however you do develop different skills such as time management as you are required to balance work along side being responsible for your own studies

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
the organisation and structure for my personal studies was going well up until the pandemic struck as once it did I didnt hear from anyone for quite some time however this was to be expected as no body knew what was happening - everything got back on track soon enough though
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received all of the support and additional training I needed - 3.5 hours a week (usually Wed, Thurs and Fri) split into 2x 1 hour sessions and 1x 1.5 hour session.
I even received additional assistance when the apprentiship should have ended which helped me alot in my studies
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I received all of the support and additional training I needed - 3.5 hours a week (usually Wed, Thurs and Fri) split into 2x 1 hour sessions and 1x 1.5 hour sessions as i mentioned before, and once a month your trainer comes and visitis you in your workplace
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel like you can do the job with out the qualification, however the qualification helps you understand the role alot more as you learn about the ins and outs of the insurance market.
in addition to this, it will help you achieve more in terms of getting a higher role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
there are a couple workshops that you can attend along with additional study material on revision mate and on the CII website where you can practice on exam style questions and past papers - your trainer will also provide past papers for you to study with along with textbooks and other material

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Direct Line to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend Direct Line Group to a friend as the environment that you work in isnt that of a typical office environment due to it being quite laid back
you can pretty much wear whatever you'd like with in reason which makes work alot better being comfortable in your own clothes
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
in terms of getting the role, the main thing that the employers will look for is your communication skills and how well you work in a team as not 1 person will have all the bits of knowledge for the role, which is why you need to be able to reply on your team from time to time, and allow them to rely on you
