Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role is an HR support admin. I rotate between different teams in HR every five to six months. In my first rotation I was part of the ER team. I supported the team with case work. I was also supporting the wellbeing team in holding wellbeing events and seminars for the business.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy my programme very much. It has a good balance between studying and working. It enables me to set my learned points straight away into practice. Sometimes the assignment deadlines fall on very busy times at work, which needs good planning and endurance in order to manage to finish everything on time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed my policy analysing and adapting skills. I have also learned how to manage internal and external stakeholders for different projects. I am developing my communication skills by being involved in different projects and teams. Due to the pandemic, I onboarded my role while working from home. This has enable me to learn how to adapt and build resilience in uncertain situations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme is structured well. The webinars are very professional and informative. The programme offers regular meetings with a coach, where any challenges can be discussed. It is also great having colleagues from different businesses on the programme, as this helps you learn more about other branches. When it comes to functional skills, I feel there could be more improvement. I had to search and dig myself to find the information I needed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive all the support needed from my employer. I am able to allocate time for my studies. My manager is always happy to support with any challenges I have. I am always asked if I have any capacity before being asked to take an additional task on, which makes me feel very valued.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My coach is always available for any questions I have. My coach normally replies within two days for any queries. I also like the regular catch ups, where the coach makes sure that everything is understood and going well. I think the webinars could be slightly longer. Sometimes the content gets rushed due to the time limit.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification definitely helps me on a day to day basis. So far it helped me understand the structure of my organisation better which helped me understand how decisions are being taken. The assignments always require a deep understanding and research of the topic, which helps me develop my knowledge. However, I would like if there was more webinars and training.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I have a lot of different networks within my work. I am part of at least 3 of them. Its great to share hobbies and believes with people who feel the same. My work also encourages employees to volunteer within the community and offers time off work to do so.

Yes
Why?
The FCA has welcomed me very warm and inclusive. I feel valued as an employee and I always have the feeling that I can be my true self. The FCA also supports and encourages everyone to develop themselves by providing a big variety of training mentor opportunities. There are a lot of networks with in the FCA that can be joined.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)?
Inform yourself about what the FCA does. Know the values and try to connect them to your own self. Make sure you're prepared for any interview or assessment days but try not to be too nervous. Ask questions, the team is super helpful in answering them. Prepare questions you can ask during the interview.
