Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Ensure a great experience to all customers visiting the store and delivery drivers. This entails ensuring a clean and safe environment, accuracy of order. Quality meets standards and that customers are greeted and acknowledged. Also being pro active and averting problems or complaints ensuring dining area staff are alert and keeping on top of cleanliness
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I won’t deny that given my age I did struggle getting back into learning. I’ve enjoyed learning and thinking about wider components that go into customer service (legal restrictions, reputation, running costs).
It’s been nice been able to learn at your own pace and that it’s adaptable so fit around my illness

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
By doing the apprenticeship it made me more alert to competitors in the market and how we compare or, methods can adopt to increase customer experience within my own job. I’m more customer service aware when I visit places or place orders online for personal use and reflect on how I would of handled the situation or done it better

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
In normal times I feel the programme runs really well however feel Covid made it feel less structured as there was no face to face meetings. As I was one of first to do the course managers weren’t familiar with the course so parts were heavy going but having the portal helped to guide along the programme
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
My employer put me forward for the course and whilst we are adults felt forgotten about. No one checked in on how things were going or what’s involved on the course. Even after completion there’s been no contact to say well done or how this can be incorporated into jobrole going forward.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My coach changed midway through the course due to Covid restrictions but support from both was good. Initial coach support did dwindle slightly once they knew were leaving but, replacement gave lots support and encouragement towards my end point assessment presentation, which helped get me back on track and boost my confidence
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It helps by giving a new insight into the job I do and how others perceive the job and it’s role. It was a good refresher on how we do things now and why, but also how do others do things and what can we adapt to go one better
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There’s lots of extra curricular activities some of which I’ve organised but also many which I have been involved with.
We do daily rubbish patrols, litter picking.
Help in the community. Fund raising and volunteering days at RMHC.
We also have many social nights out and team fun days.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
McDonald’s are a fantastic employer and best job I have taken up. They’re willing to develop their staff regardless of age or background. Fun, friendly and welcoming workplace. They also heavily encourage and support a healthy work home balance and treat staff with care and respect, your not just a number. In return they give you great incentives and rewards
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
Don’t be put off by the fact it’s McDonald’s. It’s a job for everyone, you’ll make friends and if your honest, reliable and willing to work you won’t regret making the initial application. It’s hard work but great customer satisfaction is the biggest reward.
Don’t delay go for it
