Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I serve customers on tills and provide great customer service to anybody who attends the store , I also cook in the kitchen and prepare the products so that everybody receives a gold standard item . I also manage the deliveries ensuring everything arrives on time and there are no shortages in the store .
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy it as it has allowed me to have a lot of insight into things I wouldn’t usually learn in my normal job role . I think it has been quite interesting to look at my job from a different perspective and learn some great transferable skills to use .

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have definitely learned a lot about the food sector and recognising different beliefs which helps because this can help to identify different dietary requirements and ensure when giving good customer service everybody’s needs are meet to a high standard which ensures repeat business which is good for the company .

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I think my programme is very well organised . I am in constant contact with my learning provider and it always is clear when my deadlines are and if I need any help I have a clear port of call of who to contact which has been very helpful most of the time .
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer ranging from full shifts where I can work on my apprenticeship work to having resources bought for me I.e. a computer tablet to be able to do my work more efficiently and ensure I have the resources to complete it .
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a lot of support , there is always somebody I can reach and it ensures that if any problems arise I am not left on my own to deal with them . I have received regular contact from my training provider regarding how I’m feeling on the course aswell .
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel it definitely helps me to perform better because it has given me a lot of insight I wouldn’t have known beforehand and means I can pass on this valuable knowledge to customers and ensure that I’m doing a better job in my role and keeping people satisfied
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I am part of a 5-a-side football team at my work and every year we have a company wide tournament so that has been fun engaging in . Due to covid this has not been possible but we are very keen to continue when this is resolved , there are also good opportunities for work social events .

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It has a good work life balance and I always know that I will be given enough notice for when my shifts are to be able to plan things . I also love how flexible it is so if I need some time off they can arrange that for me . They are a very supportive company and I appreciate that
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
I would tell them just to be themselves as I have found that McDonald’s look for the people who can be themselves and are willing to be trained and moulded into the perfect employee . I definitely think it is good to have a bit of an outgoing personality as everybody talks to each other and team morale is really high on shifts
