Providing technical support for a lead auditor to help examine and verify an external organisations financial information. The role involves working with clients across a wide range of industries.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really like the combination of practical work experience at a firm as high profile as PwC whilst also combining this with the opportunity to experience university life. The placements allow you to put into practice what you've studied and help consolidate your understanding of key accounting concepts.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

The role involves the need to be effective at time-management and prioritisation as well as holding effective communication skills to interact effectively with clients.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is well structured with three placements spread over the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of the degree. The way the placements are structured means you accumulate knowledge on and between your placements, allowing you to progress with more complex client work on each placement.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

There is a superb support network on the programme: you have a buddy (someone who is in the final year of the programme usually), a career coach as well as the PwC Programme Managers. You then also have the additional support network of your Lectures and Programme Director at University.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

ICAEW has its own helpline and support which is free for any of it's members to access, on signing up to the ICAEW you are automatically entitled to this support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

By working towards a Degree at University and in doing so working towards becoming an ICAEW Chartered Accountant, the university modules covered and the exams you take are all designed to help you build the professional behaviours required to practice as a Chartered Accountant.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

PwC holds various social events throughout the year, in the summer for example there is an annual office sports day.

Why?
From my experience PwC are a great employer. The firm is well structured which provides a collaborative learning environment for personal development whilst also the opportunity for personal growth through the various roles within the firm.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Most importantly be confident in yourself. However, showing how you have demonstrated the components of the PwC professional framework in your past endeavours is something I would recommend.
