Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
The placement is in audit. On a day-to-day basis I would speak to the client and request any supporting documentations required. I would then document it and go back with any follow-up queries.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The placement is in the busy season therefore the hours can get quite long. However it all goes towards your ICAEW qualification and we get paid for it. I was definitely never bored during the placements as each client is different.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
We get given a lot of responsibility which can feel overwhelming at first but it definitely has allowed me to learn so much. My understanding of audit has improved and getting to regularly speak to the client has helped me gain a lot more confidence.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It's well organised
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The people you work with are always supportive and wiling to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
After the placement I go back to uni to study for my exams
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
On the programme have a chance to put everything learnt at uni into practice. Which is great as it helps with understanding it and makes the assurance exams a little bit easier.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Normally there is a lot but currently we are in lockdown. Normally there are office drinks etc.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
PwC is definitely a great starting point. You get thrown at deep water but this allows you to make the most out of your time here. The job can be challenging at times but it's also rewarding. And if you're not concerned about your hours being a bit longer than 9-5, are hardworking and like a challenge then this might be something for you!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
You are not expected to know everything when you join. Ask a lot of questions, everyone wants to help you!
