Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role was as an audit associate at PwC and on a day to day basis my role involved communicating with the client in order to getting relevant supporting documentation to verify the the accounts we were testing.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have enjoyed the process of learning new things and meeting new people. It has significantly helped in my development of accounting knowledge and technical capabilities.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have learnt skills such as communicating effectively with the client, learning how to navigate accounting standards and learning how to effectively project manage a team in order to meet deadlines.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well organised - we are informed of what is required and and are always able to access resources if needed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A good amount of support is received from the employer. I think it depends on the individual as to how much support is required. Personally, there has never been a time when I have asked for support and not received any.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The are a large number of resources made available for working to qualifications which are very useful. I have not asked for much additional support and therefore cannot comment on additional support. However, as an improvement point I feel there could be more drop in sessions to ask questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The training helps with technical capabilities and enables stronger performance in the roll through better understanding of the accounting.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
It has been limited due to the pandemic so hard to comment on. Would be good to have the option for activities once we are able to interact in person again.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
PwC provides a really good foundation for becoming a chartered accountant. The success it has had in the past and continues to have shows they follow a tried and tested approach.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Be honest and open when applying and research the different lines of service to see if there are any of particular interest. It is as much about PwC being the right fit for you rather than just you being the right fit for PwC.
