Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:

being an auditor for pwc, working on lead schedules, doing tests o f details and other audit work. talking to the client daily and havin daility catchups, doing tests of controls, doing desktops reviews and finding explanations for variances in any g/l accounts that the client has in their tb.
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?

I very much enjoyed my time on my placement as it was very interesting and every day was different from the last. It was less enjoyable than last year due to covid but it was still okay. The hours were quite long but it was still bearable, and we ot overtime pay.
How well organised was your work experience?

it was well organised as everyone know what they were doing and i did not feel clueless at all during my time with pwc. it was good for that reason and that people know that i was on a placement so may have had less experience than others in the team
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

the work experiencegave me an insight into the industry and or job role. There wasn't any guidance as I didn't seek it out but i know that pwc does help people with finding work elsewhere. My mentor was good and always provided good advice when I needed it.
Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?

yes I was paid for this experience. All travel costs to client sites are reimbursed, meal costs were not paid for except for when we had virtual celebrations. Usually, meals are provided if you work in the office after 10pm which is a bit stingy but oh well.
Skills Development
What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?

learnt how to audit financila statements, as well as excel, word, pdf and communication skills. My confidence improved in talking to people and I was able to demonstrate professional skepticism in my work as this is a requirement of audit in order to deliver a high quality audit for pwc.
Company Culture
How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

I could see mself fitting in as everyone is welcoming. the people are nice and are always helpful, even in stressful times. The atmosphere was non existance due to covid but last year on my previous placement it was good. Their values are to develiver a high quality audit which is good
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?

there were fewer networking events this yera virtually than last year, obviously as it is harder to arrange meetings on zoom as opposed to real life. Meetings were daily and yet didn't feel like I was being micro-managed which is good. There were company events and activities in addition
Recommendations and Advice
Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a good place to work and if you dont want to stay (which not many people do) then it is good work experince to go into industry. The pay is quite poor for the hours and stress at times but partners are paid an extraordinary amount if you stay long enough
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
be wary that the hours are long and pay is fairly low, but still apply if you would actually enjoy the work or would like to springboard into a better job in industry later. Assessment days are pretty standard with no curveballs and the application process is quite rigurous but not bad
