Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Working on an insurance client, auditing their accounts using IFRS and Solvency II. Each day I would be testing material balances and questioning any differences. Throughout placement, I was involved with planning, execution and completion for each audit. Working on a range of business eg bank, investments and PRA correspondence.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Has its highs and lows. Mainly was a good experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Constantly learning and developing skills from technology, handling clients and performing high audit quality work

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Program was more structured in person from previous years than in this COVID placement. Still was relatively smooth though.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
From managers directly involved with me, a lot of support. As a whole business though, it could be lacking.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Reasonable amount
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel like they are two different training exercises - I find it much easier to learn by doing the placement so theory from uni/pwc can sometimes confuse me. only when i have actually done it with them, it makes more sense.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Many social activities are offered, both as a team and as a social group for the whole business unit

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's an experience that I think people can benefit from, whether or not they stay there for a long period of time is a different question
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
make the most of everything that is available to them and constantly ask questions
