Quality Assurer that entails carrying out quality assurance activities on regulated qualifications, ensuring staffs assessment practices are at the right standard and are adhering to all regulations and legislative requirements.
I am responsible for identifying learning needs within the organization and working with colleagues to create and provide the appropriate learning solution for the staff to develop and maintain best practice.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I struggled at first as I was not confident with doing a Level 5 apprenticeship, it had been a long time since I had done any formal studying and the thought of assignments, reports, literature reviews scared the life out of me especially during such a difficult time as Covid and the highs and lows of emotions that myself and others have gone through and I thought it would be difficult for me to complete however starting in a cohort with my colleagues and being on the same journey where we have supported each other and the support of the training provider ranging from feedback I have received on different assessments and through the review process, providing me with really good IAG to support my studies and further development not just professionally but personally has started to help me believe in myself and have more confidence in what I am doing and skills / knowledge I develop through this apprenticeship. Roll on nearly 12 months and I am enjoying putting the knowledge and skills I have learnt and developed back into practice within my organisation.

Absolutely the apprenticeship has made me look at my role from a different perspective and has given me a wider skill set and developed existing skills I had in order to do my job more effectively and be innovative with ideas I propose to the organisation to improve our L&D.

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Well set out with a sequenced curriculum that allows me as a learner to build the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed at the right time, all spaced out with enough time to complete the tasks needed and research. Classroom workshops that are interactive with the cohort and I understand what I am doing through each phase that is supporting my development towards end point assessment.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Ongoing support is received through my direct line management and senior managers. They have supported with giving me good honest and constructive feedback that has / is enabling me to grow and develop. They support with ensuring that we are getting OTJ time to complete our tasks and carry out any studies needed. They provide me with the opportunities needed to demonstrate the skills and behaviors and develop them where needed
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

They support with ensuring that we are getting OTJ time to complete our tasks and carry out any studies needed. They provide me with the opportunities needed to demonstrate the skills and behaviors and develop them where needed. Regular sessions where teaching and learning is provided. Regular reviews conducted with my employer to review my development to date.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We support the Mind charity and currently virtually traveling the world by people taking part in different activities like walking, running etc.
Obviously through covid it has been hard to do much and because we have recently been taken over there is a lot of work going on in the background to develop our social values and what we do. Wellbeing moments are encouraged where people get together once a week to play quizzes, bake offs etc

Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend Realise to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a great place to work and we have numerous training officers that have passion for what they do and love to give back to the sectors they grew and developed in themselves and they do that with the well sequenced curriculums for various different programmes we offer. They provide all the support you need through various different methods and channels to suit you. You are provided with regular constructive feedback to develop yourself in your role but also personally by setting personal objectives through review processes that support your everyday living and life, look out and check on your mental well-being also which has been really important even more so through Covid. They quickly adapt to external factors that impact them without it having any impact on you as a learner for example when we moved to 100% remote we still got everything we would have done if it was face to face sessions.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Realise?
I started my career off in childcare more that 10 years ago by going down an apprenticeship route and this really suited my needs, fast forward I have grown and developed in my role and been given the opportunity to learn further. I would say that you are never too old or capable to learn so dont let that deter you from applying for an apprenticeship as they are not just valuable for your professional growth and development but also personally.
