Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Trainer Assessor delivering a range of childcare and education apprenticeships to learners. Day to day delivering teaching and learning and assessing practice. Supporting learners to achieve their End Point Assessments, mentoring and supporting them to achieve distinctions. I am also a safeguarding deputy for Realise, formerly Interserve Learning and Employment.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am enjoying the qualification, some parts are similar to my Assessor and PTTLS level 4 award. It is in more detail on identifying training needs, design, content and delivery. This is supporting me with making amendments to current webinars, and teaching I deliver to continue to develop and improve this.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

During my time as a Trainer Assessor I have developed my teaching skills, delivering and using online resources for delivery on platforms such as Zoom. Assisting with curriculum writing of webinars. I have developed my knowledge and skills in supporting as a safeguarding deputy. I am currently training to be a Paediatric First Aid Trainer.
For my apprenticeship I am completing the Learning and Development Level 3 including EPA with CIPD. This is supporting my current role to be a more effective trainer and support with design and delivery of curriculum, learning and development both for my learners but within my team and the company.

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The apprenticeship is well organised with learning phases and research projects. We have monthly sessions as a group on zoom where we have teaching and learning with our TDO and we are then set research projects and tasks. In between this we have regular 1-1 visits and reviews with our TDO via zoom due to current circumstances. There is a set timetable given at the start of programme and dates for the monthly sessions and deadline dates for projects and tasks and ongoing support from our TDO and we use Onefile to record our learning.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is providing my apprenticeship from another sector of the business, my Manager is also very supportive of my off the job time, attending reviews, along with the Head of Sector in agreeing appropriate targets and projects for my End Point Assessment that will meet business needs and requirements.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have regularly monthly group sessions, as well as 1-1 sessions and 3 monthly reviews. I can contact my TDO at any time via email / phone or through our online platform Onefile.
As mentioned above, as my employer is also my training provider there is regular support to be able to achieve tasks set.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It has helped me to consider the delivery to learners to ensure the content and design is suitable, adapting and trying a range of activities and methods to engage my learners and colleagues when I am delivering a session.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have well-being Wednesday, as a childcare sector we have an hour every other week to have some time for an activity together and time to network (mostly via zoom due to the pandemic).
As a company we are supporting the charity Mind and are completing a walk around the world to fundraise. We have some set times as teams or whole sectors for walk and talks to support this.

Why?
I feel that the apprenticeships are well organised and delivered by passionate Trainers / Assessors who strive to meet learners needs. Especially during the current pandemic they have adapted to ensure that the apprenticeships and delivery can still be continued to the best standard possible.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Realise?
For the application and induction you will need to complete some initial assessments online, so ensure you put aside a couple of hours that week to complete them. Access to a laptop is advisable as it is much easier than trying to do them on a phone.
Prepare for regular sessions and try and keep to deadline dates so that you don't fall behind.
