Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Assist on auditing jobs in a staff/assistant role. At the minute I work in data analytics in which I mainly focus on processing, cleansing and transforming financial data so we can apply different types of analyzers on it to help the audit teams to make better sense of the clients needs
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy it a lot the team are very friendly and make sure to support us throughout the entire process. If we are struggling to understand anything everyone in the team is happy to help us get through the work. Furthermore, if we need additional support with our studies they are more than accommodating for extra time off

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt lots of new skills so far especially using the alteryx program which is used to cleanse and transform data on a large scale and is quite a visual rather than code based programming tool. I have also massively improved my skills using Microsoft excel since I use it on a daily basis now.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The program is very well structured. We had an initial 2 day induction online because of covid before we even started working. This taught us about the basic principles of the company including diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace as well as important human resources information that has proved very valuable
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer and team. We have an apprentice coach within the company who will help us to answer any queries we have about our apprenticeship or step in to help us with our workload if we are starting to find it overtly stressful.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
I can not fully comment on how well they support us as normally we would meet in person and be able to ask questions a lot more freely but due to coronavirus all the teaching has been online which is probably a lot more difficult to deliver content for students.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
There are some aspects of the course that relate better to my role. In my job its quite niche and focused on complicated accounting terms whereas my qualification is not specifically geared towards audit work. However, there are a lot of skills I get from doing my qualification that help in the workplace
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We have a range of sports teams that we can get involved in. For example, I enjoy playing football with our team. There are lots of professional networking events that get held too. The majority are online at the moment but they have still served their purpose effectively and I have been able to meet lots of other people from the company.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a very enjoyable place to work overall. The teams are all really friendly and it is very people focused as a business so they really put the health and well being of their employees as a priority in their business model. For example, even before the pandemic they were encouraging working from home
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
I went through the full physical process of enrolling before the pandemic happened. The online assessments are probably the most difficult stage of the application process so make sure that you funnel a lot of time and attention into that area and treat it as the most important part of the process
