Since joining with the company I have took on a full work load, equivalent to the other colleagues in my team. On a day-to-day basis I deal with several products. I handle documents and work on many of our clients Microsites (websites). I connect daily with other in the business and our partnerships.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The program is great! It has allowed me to get a better insight of the financial industry whilst being able to gain further qualifications. The continuous blend of learning at work was a great transition for me. It can be quite hard from being in full time education to starting a full time job, especially in an industry as big as the financial one. The program has made this transition a breeze!

My time in the company so far has definitely helped me improved many of my skills. The ability to learn and work at the same time has had a significant impact on my range of skills.
The main skills I have developed consist of; better communication, wider range of vocabulary, analysis, decisiveness and persuasiveness.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Prior to joining the company the early careers team were extremely helpful in easing my nerves. The structure was well organized as every week prior to the start dat we received small task and packs that we could complete. When I joined the company the induction was great. It gave a detailed oversight of what to expect and we got to network with many people.
IN terms of the qualification, the structure has been excellent. You have a trainer assigned to you that will help you strive to do well. You get assigned tasks based on the work you complete, to help build up a portfolio.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

As much as we need!
We have access to HR and Service Now were we can raise incidents. Both portals are great as you can speak to them over the phone or by an online portal. Service Now provides IT support and HR provides personal support or general information. The company is extremely helpful.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have regular calls with our training provider, where the coach will work with you individually on your development. We also have the ability to email the coach on any issues and they provided structured guidance.
The attitude to do well is significantly shown. I really enjoy working with with my provider as my plan is structured and altered to my personal work.

We get activity's that are altered to our job. The training provider assigns me several activity's where I can improve my skills in areas that are under developed. After majority of activity's we complete understanding questions of what we have learned.

We are encouraged to sign up to events that help us get an insight to different industry's, experiences, cultures and roles. These are helpful as we get to meet new people within the company and externally.
Within the business you can also take study leave and voluntarily leave. Some examples of people volunteering consists of; helping at food banks or a specific charity.

It's a great company to work for. There is a traineeship and a graduate scheme where you have the ability to learn at work, gain insight to the industry, network with others, build your CV, gain skills and new qualifications.
The company also has a fantastic culture and buzz about it. The blue print ensures everyone is on the same track and striving to do better.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to abrdn?
Be positive about wanting to learn and develop yourself. Understand who you are personally, what you believe in, do you have any goals/ambitions and what position do you want do be in the following years.
