Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

As a full-stack developer, I worked as a member of a friendly SCRUM team completing items from the sprint backlog. I worked on new feature requests and bug fixes for our SAAS platform. Often, that would involve writing Vue.js code, extending ERP integrations with Node.js, or making changes to C#.NET APIs.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given a great deal of responsibility right from the beginning. As a placement, your code gets merged into the main trunk right from your very first sprint, and few months in, you have almost the same responsibility as any other developer on the team, which is amazing.

During my placement, I acquired many new skills and developed my existing ones. The company and the team made sure I had the resource and support to learn the skills I needed for the job.
One of the skills I would like to highlight is the ability to navigate an extensive codebase.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

As a placement developer, you are paired with an experienced colleague. This is your main advocate at the company. You get to meet him once a week to discuss your progress and get help.
Whenever you feel like you're stuck, your team is always there to help.
Overall, I got all the support and guidance I needed.
