Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Taking part in meetings and discussions with team regarding different tasks to do with the new team, creating PowerPoints to present information and analyzing data.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, very happy with the responsibility i was given and was given the opportunity to make an impact on the project. Colleagues always took my recommendations on board and never felt like I was an intern on the team, always felt included and my opinion valued.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Developed skills in presenting using PowerPoint and built up my excel knowledge. Grown in confidence working with a diverse and interesting team. Learned how to adapt to a fast paced working environment and be comfortable with an everchanging project.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Regular catch ups with my leaders and team. As well as this was assigned a grad buddy to speak to about anything. Felt fully supported and everyone who I spoke to was always willing to help and if they couldn't then they would find someone who could.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Amex has a great culture and general atmosphere. Even though the internship was in a virtual environment, i felt very included and part of the company. The campus team put on regular social events and have an array of networks to join to fit anyone's personal needs. As well as this the campus team organized networking events to meet other interns and everyone is happy to chat with you to help you learn more about their job role, journey and as a person in general.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have really enjoyed my internship and it has been a fantastic experience. I have met a lot of amazing people and have felt fully supported through every step of the way. My team has been great with support and the tasks i have been given, the other CSBS interns have been great to chat with and meet and everyone in the business has been very kind and welcoming. I would definitely fully recommend this internship.

What advice would you give to others applying to American Express
In terms of the interview process i would find a way to differentiate yourself from the others and stand out. With the assessment center, don't be afraid to speak first and get your point across but also take other peoples points on board.
