Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am an apprentice fabricator/welder. Generally on a day to day basis this involves manufacturing steel beams as the drawing shows.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

As far as work goes I really dont mind it most of the time. I enjoy fabricating and get on well with most of the lads on the shop floor.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I feel I have learnt many new skills and these skills will continue to improve as I gain more experience within my job.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I feel as though college could be organised better as we have not been there for so many months last year and the majority of this year and are only going twice a month when we obviously have alot of work to catch up with.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I feel as though support from training provider could be improved. Mainly because we are not there enough.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I dont think it has much of an impact on my role at all.

I think they used to do 5 a side but not at the moment due to COVID

It is a good place to work once you get settled in and know what you are doing. The qualification is good to have and also many benefits like overtime etc.
