Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
As part of the three day insight, we had talks from department heads, associates and analysts about their own roles and responsibilities in the bank. As well as this, we learnt a lot about Deutsche Bank itself, as a firm; including why it would be a nice place to work in the future. Best of all, we got to experience completing tasks which might be given to us at a mock assessment centre.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very interesting as I had no prior knowledge about banking or how investment banks worked until taking part in the programme. It was also extremely insightful and great how we could have Q and A sessions in small groups with employees of the bank.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I learnt a lot about how to interact with peers or colleagues over Zoom/Skype in order to still come across friendly and confident. My technical skills with banking have also been developed throughout the programme due to the help of the training programme.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
After talking to the employees about life at DB, the main takeaway was that it is a very nice environment to work in. The people are friendly and supportive and the firm offers many opportunities to further one's career. It was exciting to find out that they have lots of different societies for different cultures; making it much more inclusive.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I enjoyed it very much, especially working with 4 others on the last day making a video about why we should encourage more girls to look for careers in the banking sector. It was much better and engaging than I expected which was a nice surprise and everyone was very friendly.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deutsche Bank
Make sure to have researched into the bank and what their values are; make sure they are aligned with your own so you think that it might be a place you would like to work in the future. In interviews, be confident but also don't be afraid to say that you're not sure in some instances - they are also an opportunity to ask questions! Also, familiarise yourself with basic banking definitions e.g. bonds, equities.
