My role involves the GMP approval of materials for supply to lines using a standardised checklist.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship programme, AstraZeneca offer many opportunities to grow and develop and the university work provided by UO Kent is engaging and sometimes challenging.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to efficiently navigate my way round SAP systems and have developed on my communication skills through cross functional working.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The course could be more organised when it comes to summer schools and important events i.e. dates could be sent out earlier. Modules are well structured and split into clear sections that are fairly easy to understand.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a substantial amount of support from my employer (AstraZeneca), help is always there if you ask for it, people are always willing to help out with anything you are struggling with. I also have regular meetings with my manager to discuss where I am up to and what progress I need to make in the future to reach my goals.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Sufficient support is provided by my university point of contact, however, support from teaching members is not always given and emails are not always answered.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The content in the online study guides is relatable to multiple parts of my job role, this can sometimes help my understanding and offer further background knowledge when carrying out more scientific tasks in the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are many extra-curricular activities advertised on AstraZeneca's social media site Workplace. The apprenticeship team also give regular updates including any upcoming events and volunteering opportunities.

AstraZeneca is a great place to work, help and support is always offered to those who ask. At AstraZeneca there is a no blame culture and SHE is advertised across site to help employees feel safe and comfortable at work. Nevertheless, there are vast opportunities to grow and develop as a person and in your career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AstraZeneca?
Research is key to understanding what AstraZeneca is about and what they are looking for in an employee/apprentice. Don't be afraid to show off your skills, always ask questions and be confident. Buzz words can also be useful when writing your CV and when being interviewed.
