Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As an insurance apprentice my day to day role varies. I have 3 six month placements during my apprenticeship where I complete three separate job roles both within Lloyd's corporation and the Lloyd's market. Everyday tasks can include supporting my team, communicating with the market and developing our skills.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy the Lloyd's apprenticeship and feel that it gives me every opportunity to thrive within the workplace and develop my career. Everyone is helpful and friendly and I have been provided with a great support network that help to develop my learning and present new opportunities.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Since joining Lloyd's I have developed many skills through the provision of external training I have been encouraged to develop my communication and presentation skills when in the work environment. My networking has improved despite the set back of COVID-19 and I feel much more confident within myself.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is well structured with 3 six month placements, all run smoothly with the coordination of our emerging talent manager. There are three separate managers that manage and organise the separate departments of the apprenticeship, this means I have a well informed leader for each feature of the apprenticeship and never feel lost or question what I have to do.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is extremely supportive and offers assistance for every struggle whether it is wellbeing, mental health or stress we have access to helplines, emergency leave and wellbeing champions. I know where to go if I am struggling or need a helping hand at all times.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider is very helpful nd well informed. I am able to send follow up questions if I'm ever unsure of anything and our training sessions are frequent and informative.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification (Dip CII) correlates directly for the work I do in my day to day role. Learning about the workings of the insurance market can be put into practice easily within my role. There is certainly a direct correlation between the work I do and the exams I study.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Lloyd's provided many extra curricular activities, especially in the virtual world. We have access to weekly yoga sessions, wellbeing talks and virtual cocktail making sessions. They are all free and widely available to the corporation.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Lloyd's of London to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would highly recommend Lloyd's and their apprentice scheme. They are well organised, care for my wellbeing and provide immense support in all compartments of my role. They have been nothing but helpful and keen to develop my skills and learning.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyd's of London?
I would always say to be yourself and be prepared for the interviews. Lloyd's are looking for authentic people who have a passion for work and study so the best way to prepare is to be informed on the company and what insurance has to offer.
