L'Oréal has provided a huge amount of responsibility right from the start. This included making informed decisions and communicating directly with the customer to ensure mutual understanding, liaising with carriers, making decision on serving products and utilising information available to form data-driven outcomes. I was responsible for account debt management for our Amazon Supply Chain and led multiple areas of our processes to cover for my absent manager. I was never seen as an intern in the business, always perceived as a permanent member of the team.

During my placement, I developed in multiple areas including communication (through collaborating with multiple stakeholders), project management, analytical, attention to detail and understanding of business. I also learned more about different areas in Supply Chain including Customer, Demand/Supply Planning, Logistics, Warehousing and beyond. New skills include PowerBI, SAP, Customer Service and more. These were some examples of areas L'Oréal developed my skills in amongst many which set interns up for the world of work

I received a lot of support from multiple people and functions in the business. My manager was fully supportive of my vision and what I wanted to learn in Supply Chain while also offering to support in finding opportunities to learn more about different functions and divisions. Our weekly catch-ups made it easy to build a strong relationship to be able to share any worries and questions. Alongside this, other employees were very supportive such as other members in Supply Chain, Commercial and more who offered to be my mentor and shadow their work. The talent team has been incredibly supportive, ensuring that we reflect and review along our L'Oréal journey and providing useful insights and opportunities.

I found the company culture perfect for my liking. Everyone was extremely friendly and open to sharing their experiences and ideas. The friendliness made it very easy to adapt to the division and team, I was never turned away when asking for introductions, coffee catchups and meeting people showing that the company truly develops a culture beyond just the responsibilities themselves. While there was no dress-code, I found the company to be casual with a good mix of some wearing trainers, others wearing business casual. The atmosphere among interns was lively and inclusive, offering events both virtually and in-person when permitted due to COVID restrictions. We worked closely with charities such as Look Good Feel Better to support their causes as a part of the intern and wider L'Oréal community.

I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at L'Oréal. It's been a pleasure to contribute to our e-commerce acceleration through Amazon and the amount of responsibilities provided in a large organisation has really provided me a strong understanding of Supply Chain, E-Commerce, Customer Service and more. I have been able to network both virtually and in-person, formulating strong networks which I will keep in touch with beyond my time at the organisation. The friendly family atmosphere both at a corporate level and divisionally in PPD, it has made the experience truly enjoyable beyond expectations.
