Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Currently, we are working from home doing college work, but usually we would be on machines making components and learning about machining.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am really enjoying the programme when we are at college or on site, but the current situation with working from home is not particularly enjoyable for anybody. However, I have tried to make the most of it and have found ways to make the work more enjoyable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned so many new skills since starting the apprenticeship, including using machines, computer skills and essential life skills like sorting out problems with pay.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Once again, due to the situation with Covid, certain aspects of the course have been compromised and we have not been able to do them. This means that some of the programme has been cut out. However, of the workload we have been given, and the practical we have done in college, the course has been very well organised, especially by [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], as we have had lots of other opportunities.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Most of the support we receive is from [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], and every question or concern I have had about anything has been answered by one person or another.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have received plenty of help from tutors during the working from home period, and the support has been very helpful and thorough.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I can't really answer this question yet, as we are only working on the qualification, and are not yet working in a specific role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Currently, there are not any other activities which we can do because of Covid, but we have previously planned some activities which we can do when the restrictions are eventually lifted.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Doing an apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce after coming straight from school has taught me so much, both from and engineering perspective and in terms of general life skills.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
Build up a portfolio of engineering-related projects which they have done in the past in order to show why you have experience in the industry, and work as hard as you can during GCSE's or other exams.
