Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Perform maintenance and repair to in service defence aircraft engines, as well as the manufacturing of new engines.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The program was very interesting and kept me engaged throughout. We had a few issues along the way but overall an incredible apprenticeship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have gained a lot of experience in the field of aerospace manufacturing. This apprenticeship has taught me a lot about fitting and inspection practices and the importance of health and safety in the work place.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
As I was apart of the first year to take on the new standard, there were some organisational issues. However, these were dealt with quickly and we were back on track.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The company helps me in every aspect. My colleagues on the shop floor, as well as the production leaders, help to ensure I have everything I need to learn a task. The training team has also been great at providing help with everything out of the actual factory.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The training provider has been helpful throughout the apprenticeship. Although the college was not the main training provider throughout my apprenticeship, the tutors help to provide any information when needed or are willing to provide addition refresher courses if required.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The knowledge I learnt through the college has been exceptional. Majority of the lecturers ensured I understood what was being taught, giving me a better understanding of the work I do in my job role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Networking and STEM events are available. The apprentice association also hosts the occasional activity.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is an incredible company to work for. The work you do is amazing and is something very different to most job roles. The opportunities for development are great. I am also very proud to wear the Rolls-Royce badge and be apart of a company that produces such incredible products.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
Brush up on mathematics and science for the online assessment. For the interview, be yourself. The people interviewing you are the people you will work with. Not only are they looking for someone who is competent and motivated, they are also looking for someone who will be great to work with and who can demonstrate the required behaviours.
