Financial transactions, reporting & operational finance work. The same as everyone else who is fully qualified within the team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme, however it sometimes feels as though the people who lead our programme are not as passionate about the scheme as the previous scheme owner.
This leads to us sometimes being forgotten, but things are slowly getting better.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Communication, skills and business insight are constantly being developed. Lots of skills developed on a daily basis unintentionally, less intentional skills training than I would have expected though.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is relatively well organised, with apprentice input considered, especially with altering placement dates during covid.
Sometimes the leaders do not consider the difference between our finance apprenticeship, and all the other engineering apprenticeships, so we get less structure than the other apprentices.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

A reasonable amount. Sometimes it feels difficult as heavy exams sit close to busy periods, but that's just the nature of finance.
With working from home we have had less support than is ideal, sometimes it has been difficult to pay for equipment we need to study at home, like printers and ink for all the work that college doesn't post out.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Training provider is efficient. I'm happy with them, all my exams so far have been first time passes and I have felt well prepared.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It ties into my role, but I also feel like it gives me a better view on the world as businesses are not run exactly in the way textbooks are written.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have the occasional networking event. We got less of these, so we actually started to arrange our own, which we had the full support of the leadership team to do.

Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is usually a good company to work for. Unfortunately during covid it has been a struggle, with less support and a cut to pay and promotion however, which means that we have gone from being considered to be well paid for our level of qualification with CIMA, to being nearly 10k below the national average for how qualified we are.
I think this is just a sign of the times though, and have hope this will get better again.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
Be yourself.
Always be open to learn new things.
Always ask lots of questions, it shows your interest and also allows you to learn more.
If there's something more you'd like to do or see, just ask! The worst thing that could happen is someone says no.
