Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
In my first year, I spend most of it at college doing half NVQ units and half university. The NVQ units are nearly all practical including electronics, machining and welding.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy most of my program but I am really struggling with home learning due to lack of support from the college. I haven’t been able to go on site due to the pandemic.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned a lot of enjoyable new skills and have developed other skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It is reasonably well organised from a Rolls-Royce perspective, but Weston college and UWE are a lot less organised
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive quite a lot of support from my employer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Little support from UWE. We have reviews to make sure we are up to date but I feel like the support isn’t there if we aren’t up to date.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I don’t currently have a role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is an apprenticeship association with sports and social events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a good company to work for and there is quite a lot of support. The apprentices are all willing to help and generally people in the company are happy to help apprentices. The work is hard but I think it is a good program to start your career
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
You need reasonable skills in maths and science otherwise you may struggle in the first year. Try to get work experience of the type of engineering you want to go into because it can be quite difficult to be certain before you start.
