Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
initially it involves doing tasks to complete our nvq level 2 and doing uni work. then, we’re put into 6 month placements within the business during our 2nd, 3rd and 4th years.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
At the moment, it’s difficult to get the full experience due to Covid, however the program is flowing well and it’s pushing us to achieve our full potential. Because of this, i’m enjoying the program and the people involved in it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, 100%. Practical skills including using machinery such as the mill and lathe.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Not as good. Because of Covid there are lots of communication issues between the college, the university and the company. However, i believe that over time, things will improve.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lots. They’re always asking us if we have any problems and if there’s anything that they can do to help. I find that our ADL’s are extremely helpful.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Quite a bit. They’re always asking us if they can do anything to improve our learning.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Without my degree and the learning that comes with it, I’d lack the basic knowledge i need to perform well in my job role. Therefore the qualification helps me to meet expectations and develop my understanding.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, the company holds lots of social activities. In particular, there’s an apprentice association which involves getting into sports teams, social events and charity events such as charity balls and walks.
