Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
- Completing revaluations
- Creating / Posting journals
- Uploading figures from one system to another
- Clearing validations
- Processing information and collating
- Analysing figures
- Answering audit requests
There have been training courses on Year-End and Interim reporting within my team as well as training courses to the wider team for IFRS accounts
Currently completed Level 4 AAT during my time at the company.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
A very supportive team which you can rely on to either ask questions or talk to.
Study takes place one day a week so can work this around my workload.
I enjoy the work, sometimes the hours worked can be long and tiring, but it has improved my knowledge of accounting.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
- Improved my communication skills, both verbally (telephone calls with the wider business and talks within the immediate team) and written (both informal and formal emails)
- I have learnt a lot about the workings within the business and how my study relates to my job role, as well as professional skills such as teamwork.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
Studying I can fit around my workload on day release, however it has taken a while to move onto CIMA (still not enrolled) which has made study very difficult.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
Not a lot of contact from the HR Team or anyone outside of my own placement team - not too aware of the support that there is.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
Why?
The workload and tasks that I complete have been very interesting.
The company provides support where need and the opportunities available after the apprenticeship are large.
The apprenticeship itself is very beneficial and although there have been issues regarding moving onto the next stage, it has definitely helped me move towards where I want to be.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
Persistency - if you want to work for the company, do all that you can to answer the application questions to the best of your ability, prepare for the interview and if needs be ring to see if a decision has been made.
