Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I will have many different roles whilst in my apprenticeship, moving around the company to different departments for a few months at a time. My currently role is supporting customers by answering technical queries and managing different jobs that we are required to do for them. Day-to-day involves investigating aircraft systems and topics, setting up meetings and writing job reports.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the programme very much, the people i work with are very nice and understanding; i get treated the same as anyone else and the training team offers support with the college based work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme could be organised better but where it hasn't been the team provides support and helps to catch up on work. The training team provides specific goals and objectives to work towards.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer, i am able to email him with any question whenever and he will get back to me within a reasonable amount of time.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Even through the pandemic the college has provided us with as much support as they can with online lessons, recordings of lessons, and being able to email. We have access to a variety of different support options such as copies of lesson power points.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The biggest help has been learning about how the aircraft works and learning the various systems means that when you are in the job role you have a much better understanding of what you are talking about. This enables you to have more confidence discussing problems/jobs with other perhaps more senior people.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are a variety of extra-curricular activities to get involved with such as the apprentice committee (AWASA) that consists of a team of apprentices that will organise various fun charitable events for employees. STEM activities, such as travelling to schools and college to try and promote the engineering industry for future apprentices. Also being able to take free, short, work based courses that help you professionally.

Why?

Is a very good, stable company to work for with a lot of career opportunities afterwards. Provides good benefits for people and interacts will a lot of the world that can open opportunities that other companies can't.
