As a Flying Start intern in Audit, you are an integral part of the engagement team working to deliver a high quality audit to your client.
Responsibilities may include completing tests of detail, research, reviewing financial information etc.
You get to work alongside PwC staff from other fellow interns up to partners.
There are also opportunities to travel to client site for meetings/inventory etc.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

It has been a very rewarding experience as we are valued as members of the team in the same way as a full-time PwC employee. The people culture at PwC is stellar and they encourage keeping in contact with members of your team (even during WFH).
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have taken further steps to achieving my ACA qualification. e.g. sat modules in Assurance, Law, Audit + Assurance, Accounting. By the end of the degree programme, I would have sat 12 out of the 15 required exams to become an ICAEW chartered accountant.
On placement, I have picked up skills centered around delivering a PwC audit. For example, client research, the procedures behind testing FSLIs.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very organised. It is always clear what we are to be doing and there are many contacts to reach out to if you're not. A very professional environment.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Each Flying Start intern is assigned a Career Coach (a PwC member typically a Senior Associate), this is your first port of call for any work/pastoral issues. Additionally PwC has families within Audit; these are smaller groups made up of partners, managers, associates, other interns etc. Meetings within families offer an opportunity to raise any issues to a wider forum yet still feel comfortable.
We are also encouraged to keep in regular contact with our tutors at university.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Complete support. Teaching and learning materials are provided by UoN/ICAEW.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

They offer much help with regular meetings and office hours to review performance both at uni and at PwC. This helps to keep you on track .
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, PwC has a dedicated 'Fun' team. This is made a little bit harder with Covid but Audit families regularly organise activities for everyone to take part in, e.g. Virtual Bake-Off
